It feels like school-trip day at Media Agency Group HQ, with some of the team highly excited to be heading to today’s IAB Digital Britain conference in Manchester.
For the first time ever, the IAB will be unveiling the full-year 2013 digital advertising spend figures in Manchester, when they release their IAB/PwC Digital Adspend study this afternoon.
The results are set to reveal which sectors spend the most on digital advertising, and highlight the size of the display, search and classified markets across online, mobile and tablet platforms.
Sessions from Don O’Leary – Head of Sales for Twitter Manchester, and Nancy Furber – Digital Marketing specialist at UNICEF UK, are just two of the day’s highlights.
Head of Northern Agencies at Google UK, Andy Barke, is also set to talk on how UK businesses can utilise tools to target beyond the UK shores.
The conference is only 2 hours in, and we’re already receiving some real tweets for thought from our team over at the event at Bridgewater Hall:
- The online ad revenue figure for 2013 is £6.30bn, a 15,2% increase
- 52% of people admit to preferring to check their smartphone rather than just sitting and thinking when they have downtime.
- 40% of the top 50 UK retailers don’t have a transactional mobile website
42% of top 100 brands in UK are still not optimising their websites for mobile
- 78% of recent purchases involved a connected device
