The Rise of Mobile Video, in Numbers

You’d have to be living on the Moon to not notice the ever-increasing amount of video content that dominates our social media platforms.

Whether it’s people Facebook Live-ing their night out or sharing the latest viral video, you can’t move for engaging video content on the web.

The continued rise of both video content and mobile device usage is no coincidence, with more and more of us using our smartphones and tablets to browse social feeds and get our daily fix of memes and more.

The days of sitting down at your desk, opening up your laptop and logging into Facebook are rapidly fading into distant memory – over half of Facebook users now only access the platform via their mobile device. And, of course, mobile-only platforms such as Instagram and Snapchat have also played a significant part in creating the mobile-dominated world of social that we’re currently living in.

In terms of marketing, though, just how important is mobile video? Any social media professional worth their salt will be able to tell you that Facebook in particular heavily favours video in its algorithm – meaning that more people will see and engage with your content as it’s significantly bumped up the news feed.

But, what else do you need to know? Well, we’ve put together a video (obviously) jam-packed with the latest must-know stats on the rise of mobile video and just how important it can be for business. Check it out below and let us know your thoughts by tweeting us @MediaAG!
