The best Christmas ads of 2022

What better way than to feel even more festive than rounding up Magnet’s favourite festive creatives of this year? Happy Hanukkah to everyone who celebrates, and happy seven day countdown to everyone celebrating Christmas this week!

The most controversial ad: Pepsi

Pepsi Lindsay Lohan and Santa invite fans to try a naughty new twist on an old tradition: instead of milk and cookies, try ’pilk and cookies.’ Yes, you read that right- and no, I don’t think i’ll be trying it!

Pilk, colloquially known as a “dirty soda” on the internet for years, is an infamous mixture of Pepsi and milk. Now, Pepsi is welcoming pilk with open arms – and giving 25 lucky fans the chance to win a cash prize if they try the concoction with cookies.

Fans can join the naughty list by participating in the #PilkandCookies Holiday Challenge. To enter, fans must follow @Pepsi on Instagram, Twitter or TikTok, and share a photo or video of their dirty, decadent pilk and cookies with #PilkandCookies #Sweepstakes.

The most loved Christmas ad in the UK: ASDA

System1 tests ads on measures that predict long-term brand growth (star rating) and short-term sales growth (spike rating) – each between one and five stars. These measures are validated using the independent Institute of Practitioners in Advertising (IPA) database and against real sales data at a category level, and it scored Asda’s Have your Elf  A Merry Little Christmas the maximum, saying that the ad excels on short-term and brand fluency metrics, as well as getting a maximum 5.9-star rating. After all, who wouldn’t want their own Buddy the Elf on hand to help out at Christmas?

The best christmas campaign for good:Walkers

We loved this one! Walkers has welcomed the festive season with  Comic Relief and the launch of its brand-new Christmas advert. the ad focuses on landing an important mental wellbeing message; aimings to remind the nation that opening up and talking more can have a positive impact on mental wellbeing, and forms part of the snack brand’s ongoing work with Comic Relief to raise £2million for projects that support mental wellbeing within the UK by the end of 2022.

And it wouldn’t be Christmas without a nod to our festive campaigns would it?
